Praise
God with the blast of the trumpet,
Praise God with
lyre and harp,
Praise God with
timbrel and dance,
Praise God with
strings and pipe.
Praise God with
sounding cymbals,
Praise God with
clanging cymbals.
Let everything
that has breath praise the Lord!
Alleluia!

Opportunities
in the Holy Family Music Ministry:
[ back to the list ]
Parish Choir: (Soprano I–Soprano
II-Alto-Tenor-Bass) This choir is predominantly an adult choir,
although Teens are welcome and do join us at times. Our ministry is to support and
encourage the active participation of the assembly by raising our hearts and
voices to God. Together with the assembly, we celebrate our faith through sung
prayer. While members must be able to hold a tune, reading music is not a
requirement. If you enjoy singing harmonies, this choir is for you! We
rehearse on Thursday evenings starting at 7:00 p.m. in Room 134A.
We rotate through the masses, singing at one per weekend from September
through early June. Summer schedule varies. We are especially in need of Tenors and Basses!

Christmas Choir & Triduum Choir: (Soprano I–Soprano
II-Alto-Tenor-Bass) These choirs provide our beautiful music for the
holidays. Comprised mostly of Parish Choir and Teen Singer
members, we also regularly include singers whose schedules do not
permit them to sing in a choir throughout the year. We start
rehearsals 6-8 weeks prior to Christmas and Triduum, rehearsing in 134A
at 8:00 p.m., immediately following the Parish Choir rehearsal.
As with the Parish Choir, holding a tune is a requirement, reading
music is not. These choirs generally sing more challenging music,
such as “The Passion of Our Lord according to St. John” by Randall
DeBruyn and the Hallelujah Chorus.
[ back to the list ]
Knights of Columbus Choir: This choir is comprised
entirely of members of the Knights of Columbus singing in two-part
harmony. We sing in October for
Columbus Day, in the Spring for The Knights' Anniversary and Father's
Day, and for one other occasion during the year. We hold several
rehearsals before we are scheduled to sing. These rehearsals are from
6:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursdays in room 134B. This is a very
energetic, fun group of male
singers!

list ]
Teen Singers: (6th grade
through college students) The Teen Singers rehearse
on Sunday afternoons at 5:00 p.m. in Room 134A. The families take
turns bringing in dinner for us between rehearsal and Christian
Formation classes in the evening. Singing and eating together, we forge
lasting friendships with other teens of faith. We usually sing at
two liturgies a month, including Midnight Mass and Baccalaureate.
On occasion, we sing at assisted living and nursing homes. All
members must be able to hold a tune. We sing in two or three part
harmonies. Choral students will especially enjoy singing with us.

Junior Youth Choir: (Grades 1 through 5) The
Junior Youth Choir is open to all children grades 1 through 5.
This choir provides young parishioners with a fun atmosphere where they
learn to sing and communicate their faith through music. This program runs in
conjunction with the school year and Christian Formation. We
generally sing at one liturgy a month during the school year, including
the afternoon mass on Christmas Eve. Through the end of
this year, Junior Youth Choir will be rehearsing and singing with the
Teen Singers. Please see the schedule for the Teen Singers, aslo
on this web site. Come join the fun!

Holy Family Ringers: Also known as the
Handbells or, affectionately, the “Ding-a-Lings”, we meet at 5:00 p.m.
on Wednesdays in Room 134B from September through early June. We
have 3-octaves of Schulmerich handbells and play a wide range of music
– from hymns to classical to rock ‘n roll to western! While
reading music is helpful, it is not necessary. We will teach you
all you need to know! Generally, each player plays two handbells
– one for each hand. As a member of this small ensemble, you will
be an integral part of the group and always feel needed! Our ages
range from Middle School students through Retirees. Parent-child
ringers are welcome. We ring about once a month at mass,
including Christmas Eve and Easter. Our final performance is at
the Parish Fair in June.

Liturgical Rock Band: The Band generally plays
once a month at the 11:00 a.m. mass with rehearsals scheduled between
the masses in the Worship Space. However, members often stay and
play
more informally other Sundays. Parishioners have requested our
appearance more often at the 5:30, so stay tuned for amplified
opportunities! This group includes guitar, bass, piano, drum set and
other rhythm instruments, as well as winds. All you need is a
basic
knowledge of your instrument and a desire to play with a group -
expertise is not required. We welcome players of all ages. Come learn and play with
us! Please contact Cathy Snyders or Kathryn for more information.

Instrumentalists: Individual
instrumentalists also enhance the music at our liturgies. There
are many, varied possibilities for solo and ensemble playing.
Contact the Music Minister for details.
Rehearsals will be scheduled as needed.
Cantor: The cantor is the leader of
sung prayer at our liturgies. As such, cantors assume the
responsibility to maintain their vocal skills and learn the music
thoroughly, memorizing some of it. As one parishioner said, “No
one will out-sing the cantor”! Cantors must read music, have a
strong singing voice and possess the confidence to lead the assembly in
song. To this end, attendance at weekly rehearsals, preferably as
a member of the Parish Choir or Teen Singers, is part of the commitment
our cantors make. Please contact the Music Minister for an interview if you
are interested.

Pianist/Organist: The pianist or organist
accompanies the music at our liturgies. We welcome players of any
age who possess the necessary keyboard skills. We are willing to
train in the art of accompaniment. Please contact the Music Minister for an interview if you are
interested.
