Church of the Holy Family seeks a part-time coordinator for catechesis of children in grades K through 5 and to coordinate sacramental preparation for First Reconciliation and First Eucharist using Saint Mary’s Press resources.
This coordinator will work under the direct supervision of the Director of Evangelization. Major duties and responsibilities include collaboration with parish staff and working directly with parents, catechists, aides and other volunteers. This coordinator will lead the grade K-5 Christian Formation program on Sunday mornings at Church of the Holy Family, execute the curriculum and recruit catechists and other volunteers to assist with the program. He or she will also schedule and coordinate the parent and child preparation programs for First Reconciliation and First Eucharist, making sure that sacramental guidelines are followed and that necessary documentation for sacraments is collected and recorded. He or she will also participate in and support parish-wide formation and evangelization, assisting with the parish Vacation Bible School.
Requirements include basic knowledge of Church teachings and Catholic sacramental theology, in particular, the sacraments of initiation. The coordinator:
should have experience in sacramental formation and demonstrate pastoral skills and deep respect for cultural diversity.
will have strong communication skills with adults and children alike and be successful working in a team setting.
have the ability to work independently and under stressful circumstances.
Given the position and its responsibilities in our parish, the coordinator needs to be a Catholic in good standing and must be VIRTUS-trained or eligible for VIRTUS-training.
Primary Duties of Coordinator for K-5 Christian Formation
Responsible for coordinating:
Christian Formation for grades K-5 which includes supporting catechists and working with parents in helping them being witnesses to the faith for their children. Weekly duties include:
Preparing supplies for catechist lessons each week
Update the web pages with information of the week
Send any email updates to parents and catechists as needed.
Sacramental preparation for parents and children for First Reconciliation and First Communion.
Facilitate parent First Reconciliation and First Communion sacramental preparation classes
Support First Sacrament parents with the home study online learning program with Saint Mary’s Press
Vacation Bible School
Collaborate with other parishes who will be doing the same theme and coordinate any shared supplies.
Coordinate the program using the VBS-themed Kit purchased for the year.
Recruit and coordinate volunteers to help run the stations.
Organize supplies and activities for volunteers and their stations.
Requirements:

Be an effective communicator, public speaker and team player, willing to demonstrate creativity in problem solving and promoting the mission of the parish;
Show strong spiritual leadership skills from a servant-leader perspective.
Skills required:
Proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
Have the ability to learn new computer software used by the parish and the Diocese. Be proficient in social media and audio/visual equipment

Church of the Holy Family is currently seeking several reliable, attentive, and warm-hearted individuals who would be available to work Sunday mornings from 7:45am -12:30pm in its Sunday Mass Nursery.
The Sunday Mass Nursery will provide families with a safe and playful environment to leave their small children (ages 9 months through 3-year-olds) while participating in the Mass or volunteering with Christian Formation. Duties for this position will include managing child drop-off and pick-up, communicating with parents/guardians as circumstances require, regularly sanitizing the nursery space, and meeting the children’s needs during their time in the nursery. The Nursery Staff Team will receive monthly schedules with each individual’s weekends to be worked. Additional hours may be available dependent upon need and availability to provide childcare during other ministry events.
Required Qualifications: Successful candidates for this position must complete background screening requirements, VIRTUS training, be at least 18 years old, be reliable, and work well with children. Experience working in a childcare setting is preferred but not required.
